NPORS approved lorry loader (HIAB) training

Teesside LGV Training Ltd is an approved NPORS Training Centre with an approved NPORS approved Instructor.

All training will be carried out at our own NPORS approved Training site using our own Lorry Loader. In addition to our on-site training we can also carry out training at your site, using either our own vehicle or yours.

The Aim of the Course

Provide the candidate with the basic knowledge and practical skills involved in operating a Lorry Loader (HIAB).

The Objectives of the Course are to enable delegates to:

  • Be able to operate the full machine safely and correctly in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions and accept good practice
  • Carry out a pre-shift inspection of the vehicle, machinery, attachments and Lifting Equipment
  • Be able to operate competently and safely under varying site conditions
  • Be able to load/unload lorry by slinging loads from crane safely
  • Set stabilisers correctly – and how to set the machine stable and level
  • Understanding the PTO and how to Engage/disengage the PTO correctly
  • Be able to carry out minor adjustments and routine service
  • Candidate to have sufficient knowledge and practical skills to successfully complete the NPORS assessment

All persons required to operate a Lorry Loader.

Course Summary

Candidates will participate in theory and practical demonstration lessons and exercises covering:

  • Introduction to the Industry
  • Current relevant regulations including Health & Safety / Risk Assessment
  • Introduction to the machine
  • Pre-Shift Inspections to carry out
  • Controls and Instruments for both the vehicle and Lorry Loader
  • Components and main types of lorry loaders
  • Use of the loader to load and unload the vehicle
  • NPORS assessment, which includes Theory & Practical elements

Course Duration

This depends on the experience of the candidate, for a novice or little experience a two day course and for an experienced operator a one day course. Maximum course ratio is 3:1 per day.

Testing / Certification

All candidates will complete the NPORS assessments and of successful completion will be issued with an NPORS Operators Card.
